Four arrested in Bank of Maharashtra dacoity case
PATNA, May 18 -- A joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) and Samastipur police on Saturday arrested four criminals, including their kingpin, involved in the recent dacoity at the Bank of Maharashtra.
The kingpin has been identified as Dharmveer alias Karmveer Singh, who carried a reward of Rs.2 lakh on his head.
During the operation, the police recovered one kilogram of looted gold, three country-made firearms, eight live cartridges, six mobile phones, an orange-coloured motorcycle used in the crime, a black Pulsar motorcycle, and a black Hyundai car from the possession of the arrested persons.
Samastipur superintendent of police (SP) Ashok Mishra told Hindustan Times that around seven to eight armed robbers had stormed the Kashipur branch of the Bank of Maharashtra under the jurisdiction of Town police station on May 7. The gang looted gold worth Rs.5 crore and Rs.15 lakh in cash during the heist.
"We formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to crack the case. During analysis of CCTV footage, the team noticed a black Pulsar motorcycle used in the robbery. The SIT traced the number plate and identified the suspect as Randhir Kumar alias Bablu Singh. He was the first to be arrested, along with his motorcycle, a country-made pistol, and two live cartridges," said the SP, adding that after his arrest and interrogation, three more persons were arrested....
