Four arrested as liquor party busted inside MGNREGA office
DARBHANGA, Sept. 4 -- Police on late Tuesday evening busted a liquor party being held inside the premises of the MGNREGA office at Satighat under Kusheshwarsthan West block, officials said.
The party, organised soon after the farewell function of outgoing programme officer (PO) Sanjeev Kumar, led to the arrest of four persons, including a government staffer.
According to police, those arrested have been identified as Vijay Kumar Yadav of Kasimpur, Rahul Kumar Paswan of Adalpur, Ram Naresh Yadav of Parmanandpur, and MGNREGA staffer Savera Kumar of Benipur. All four were caught from one of the office rooms where liquor was being consumed following a non-vegetarian feast held during the farewell ceremony.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Kusheshwarsthan police station Ankit Chaudhary said that a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against the accused under relevant sections of law. "Interrogation is underway, and efforts are being made to identify and arrest others who fled the spot," he added.
Police sources said the raid was conducted after one of the employees attending the farewell tipped off authorities about liquor being served on the office premises. A team led by sub-inspector Mantu Paswan reached the office and conducted the raid. The sudden police action created panic, with several people attempting to flee, though four were nabbed on the spot....
