PATNA, Jan. 7 -- Senior journalist and former chief reporter of Hindustan Times and The Searchlight Amalendu Narayan Sinha passed away at his residence in Patna on Tuesday. He was 85. A widely respected journalist, especially in the political circles due to his incisive reports, Sinha was the Chief Reporter during the transition of The Searchlight to Hindustan Times. He is survived by son Raj Sinha and two daughters. One of his daughters is Shailja Sinha, DGM, Media Marketing, HT, while another daughter is Shabnam Sinha. Sinha's school education happened in Dumra, Sitamarhi and later he came to Patna for higher education with his elder brother Purnendu Narayan Sinha. He got associated with radio in his early days and maintained his association for a long time. He got associated with Hindustan Times, Patna since its inception in 1986. He retired from HT in 2000. Later, he was also associated with politics for some time, but returned to his roots soon. Later, he got associated with other newspapers and magazines....
