PATNA, May 20 -- Former BJP MP from Purnea Uday Singh, who is viewed as a strong leader in the region, is the new national president of Jan Suraaj Party. The announcement was made Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishor on Monday. Uday Singh alias Pappu Singh joined the Jan Suraaj a day after former JD-U president RCP Singh joined the party in an indication that PK was in expansion mode ahead of election. Earlier also, senior leaders like Devendra Prasad Yadav and Brishin Patel had joined Jan Suraaj. Uday Singh was elected MP from Purnea twice in 2004 and 2009. He had also joined the Congress when the seat went to the JD-U in seat sharing, but lost in 2014 and since then was in political isolation. He has been known for close proximity with Kishor since the emergence of Jan Suraj movement. He did not contest in 2024, but threw his weight behind Pappu Yadav, who won from Purnea. "The decision to make Uday Singh the national president has been unanimously taken by the core committee," said Kishor. However, even as new leaders are joining Jan Suraj, some are also leaving....
