Five women held with 50 litres of liquor in rural Patna: Police
PATNA, July 19 -- The Hathidah police in Barh subdivision arrested five women on Thursday evening on charges of smuggling liquor from Uttar Pradesh to Begusarai district. Around 50 litres of liquor was recovered from their possession.
Dinesh Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Hathidah police station, said the police had received a tip-off that a group of women were heading from Mokama to Begusarai to sell liquor.
"We began checking all suspicious individuals near Rajendra Setu and caught five women while they were about to board an auto. On searching their bags, we found 180ml bottles and other bottles of foreign liquor," he said.
The SHO added that the arrested women are residents of Patna and Begusarai. During the investigation, it was revealed that the liquor had been smuggled in from Uttar Pradesh and was intended for distribution in Begusarai.
"The police are also verifying the background and credentials of the arrested women," he added....
