Police said five friends went for a dip in the Ganga at Bhadra Ghat and started drowning. SSB and SDRF personnel rescued three minor boys, while search for the other two continued late in the evening. Locals said five teenagers from Badi Patandevi Colony had gone to Bhadra Ghat with three other friends for taking bath and entered the water together. "Shivam Kumar (16) and Prince Kumar (15) began drowning. Seeing this, three friends - 15-yr-old Aman Kumar, 12-yr-old Singham Kumar and 16-yr-old Aditya -- tried to save them and shouted for help. However, due to the strong current in the water, they also got caught and started to drown. People present on the Ganga bank began shouting and informed the SSB," they said. The search operation for the drowned Shivam and Prince did not yet yielded success till filing the report. In the second incident, three members of a family were drowned while bathing near the Dighwara-Sherpur six-lane bridge in Chapra at construction site, unaware of the water's depth. The road had been washed away by floodwaters, making it impossible to estimate the depth. All three attempted to save each other, but none could return. The riverbank road had been cut due to the bridge construction, which increased the depth there. While bathing, one person slipped, and the other two jumped in to save him, but all three were drowned. Following information from locals, divers helped recover all three bodies. A wave of grief swept across the entire village after the accident....
