BETTIAH, May 14 -- At least five forest personnel, including a forester, were injured after being attacked by a gang of sand mafias near Ramnagar in the Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) area of Bihar's West Champaran district, police said on Tuesday. The incident came to light when forest officials approached the Ramnagar police on Monday evening. Dr. Nesamani K, Conservator and Field Director of Valmiki Tiger Reserve, said that a large group of illegal sand miners attacked the forest personnel when they tried to stop illegal sand mining from the Dhogahi River at Meghawal Mathiya village which falls under the jurisdiction of Ramnagar police station....
