PATNA, Aug. 9 -- Five criminals were arrested following an encounter with police in Saran district on Friday, officials said, adding that two of them sustained leg injuries. The arrested men have been identified as Munna Mian, Ranjit Kumar Singh, Satyendra Patel, Sachin Kumar Yadav, and Prince Yadav - residents of areas under Elma and Manjhi police stations and face multiple cases of loot, dacoity, and murder across different police stations in the district. The encounter took place under Ekma police station limits. Saran Superintendent of Police (SP) Kumar Ashish said police had received information that some criminals were gathering inside a poultry farm to commit a crime. A police team cordoned off the area and asked them to surrender, but they opened fire at the raiding party. Police retaliated, injuring Munna and Ranjit in the leg. The injured, both of whom have more than 12 criminal cases against them, are being treated at Chhapra Sadar Hospital.
