PATNA, Jan. 10 -- An advanced training course on laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of hernia was organised for the first time at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) on Friday, officials said. The three-day programme is being jointly conducted by the department of surgical gastroenterology, IGIMS, and the Indian Association of Gastro and Endo Surgeons. Dr Manish Mandal, medical superintendent of IGIMS and coordinator of the advanced laparoscopic fellowship course, said the initiative aimed to enhance surgeons' skills in advanced hernia laparoscopic procedures. Around 100 surgeons from Bihar and Jharkhand participated in the training on the first day.
