FIR against Tejashwi, 3 other leaders sparks row
DARBHANGA, Sept. 17 -- In a development that has set Bihar's political circles abuzz, an FIR has been registered in Darbhanga against Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav, former MLA Rishi Mishra, and Congress's former candidate Maskoor Ahmad Usmani.
The case was filed at Singhwara PS following a plaint by an ASHA worker Gudiya Devi, wife of one Mithilesh Bhagat, a resident of ward number 7 of Singhwara Nagar Panchayat.
She alleged that she, along with other women, was charged Rs.200 for filling out a form under the so-called 'Mai Bahin Yojana', which promised a financial benefit of Rs.2,500. According to her, during the process her Aadhaar number, bank account details, and mobile number were also collected. She claimed that the scheme was being run in the name of the senior leaders to mislead unsuspecting women.
Acting on her complaint, Singhwara police confirmed that an FIR had been lodged against the four political figures. The station in-charge said investigations were underway to ascertain whether this was a case of fraud or a misuse of leaders' names as part of a political conspiracy.
On the other hand, Gudiya Devi said on Tuesday that after filing the complaint at the police station, she had been receiving threats. When she went to call nearby women to accompany her to the police station, they refused. They told her that she should only discuss the matter of the form and not bring up anything about money.
Meanwhile, one of the named accused in the FIR, former president of Aligarh Muslim University students' union and former contestant from Jale assembly constituency, Maskoor Ahmed Usmani, alleged that the ASHA worker and her husband had filed a false case at the behest of minister Jibesh Kumar Mishra, who was involved in alleged beating of a YouTube journalist a day earlier....
