PATNA, Oct. 22 -- The Vaishali police on Tuesday registered an FIR against AIMIM candidate Amit Kumar alias Bachcha Rai - one of the alleged masterminds of the infamous 2016 Bihar board exam scam - on charges of rumour-mongering that allegedly led to tension between two communities. The FIR was registered on the basis of a statement by Chehrakalan Circle Officer (CO) Poonam Bharti under sections 299/196(1)/353(2)/174 of the BNS Act. In her complaint, the CO stated that around 10.30 am, the Vaishali administration received information through social media that communal tension had been created and the model code of conduct violated. In the purported video, Bachcha Rai - who is contesting the Assembly election from the Mahua seat - is seen active. The video alleged that a man named Shivji Rai had torn religious papers or books at a place of worship. Following the alert, the CO and the SHO of Kathara police station reached the spot and inquired into the incident. During the investigation, police found that the allegation made in the video was false. "Tension arose between two groups over a purported video of vandalism in a mosque at Ramapur Bhorahan under the Kathara police station area. Upon receiving the information, police reached the spot and pacified both sides. The investigation found the video clip to be false and misleading," said SDPO Sanjeev Kumar. He added that the video, which went viral on social media, falsely claimed that violence and vandalism had taken place inside the mosque. After the video was found to be fake, representatives of both communities - Hindu and Muslim - submitted a joint application seeking to resolve the dispute amicably. They requested that the false rumour be withdrawn and gave written assurances to the police that they would not pay heed to or spread any such rumours in future. Vaishali SP Lalit Mohan Sharma confirmed that an FIR had been lodged against the AIMIM candidate and said that action would be taken as per law after completion of a fair and transparent investigation process. So far, Vaishali police have registered four FIRs against various political leaders, including Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, Jan Suraaj Party members, and supporters of the Janshakti Janata Dal led by Tej Pratap Yadav for alleged violation of the model code of conduct....
