Father, son duo killed over land dispute at Gaya
PATNA, May 18 -- A man and his son were shot dead due to a land dispute at Dakhin village which falls under the jurisdiction of Wazirganj police station of Gaya Ji district on Saturday, police said.
Police further said that both the deceased and the assailants were residents of the same village. The deceased have been identified as Ashok Singh (50), and his son Kunal Kumar (24).
Gaya Ji senior superintendent of police (SSP) Anand Kumar told HT that the incident occurred when Ashok, who was recovering from a leg surgery, was sitting outside his house. His nephew, Nitish Kumar, shot him and fled the spot.
While escaping, Nitish came face to face with Ashok's son, Kunal, who had returned from New Delhi. Nitish shot him as well on the outskirts of the village.
Both the victims were declared brought dead on arrival at the hospital.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team reached the spot, took possession of the bodies, and began an investigation. Based on the statement of Ashok's family members, a case has been registered against Nitish Kumar and others at the Wazirganj police station under Sections 103 and 3(5) of the BNS, and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
"Raids are underway to arrest the criminals involved in the killing, "said the SSP, adding that a probe has been launched in this connection....
