Farmers advance towards Delhi over demands
Haridwar, Sept. 19 -- Members of various farmers' associations and unions on Thursday continued their protest march towards New Delhi in order to press for a central resolution to their demands from the state government, people familiar with the matter said.
"Our issues are not just confined to Uttarakhand, but touch upon problems faced by all farmers. We oppose smart electronic metres, demand a hike in minimum support price (MSP) of sugarcane, time-bound payment of dues from sugar mills, and electricity bill waivers for irrigation purposes.
