Fake ADRM's breakfast drama ends in arrest
DARBHANGA, June 7 -- It all started with a biscuit. Then came a casual demand for tea. Settled comfortably in the AC H1 coach of Swatantrata Senani Express (12562), a man introduced himself as Alok Kumar Jha, additional divisional railway manager (ADRM) of Samastipur.
Dressed neatly, speaking authoritatively, he was convincing - almost.
But behind the confident act was Durga Kant Chaudhary, a resident of Mohan Badhiyam village in Pandaul block of Madhubani district, who had no railway affiliation - only a fake ID, no ticket, and a flair for deception.
On the evening of June 5, he boarded train number - 12562 and claimed privileges reserved for senior railway officials. He first asked for a biscuit and then called for tea.
A video that later surfaced online shows him sprawled on his berth, cool as ever, enjoying the role. But his drama didn't fool everyone.
The TTE, suspicious of his manner and credentials, quietly informed higher-ups.
The alert reached the Divisional Security Control Room in Samastipur, prompting swift coordination with Darbhanga RPF, GRP, and the chief travelling ticket inspector (CTTI).
As the train reached Darbhanga station around 6.15 pm, officers boarded and confronted the 'self-styled' ADRM. In a final desperate act, the imposter rang someone and told the police, saying, "Talk to ADRM Alok."
The officer calmly replied, "But just a while ago you were telling us that you yourself are Alok Kumar Jha?"
"I am sub inspector Shiv Kumar Singh and my colleague is ASI Amit Kumar. We know our ADRM," the security officials confronted the passenger.
The man turned aggressive and attempted to mislead officers further but in vain. Eventually, he was nabbed and interrogated.
His true identity was revealed: Durga Kant Chaudhary, with no link to Indian Railways.
A formal complaint was filed by CTTI Chandeshwar Rai. The conman was forwarded to railway court for legal initiative, said RPF in-charge Pushkar Mina.
When contacted, incumbent ADRM Alok Kumar Jha told HT that he was alerted by the authorities of the imposter's gimmicks. "But we kept him in good humour before being arrested with evidence"...
