The IRCTC scandal, which took place during the 2004-09 period when Prasad was the Railway Minister, and trial would begin now.
The mood of excitement suddenly changed to concern at both the party office as well as the residence, but many supporters were convinced that such things would not have any effect.
The charges against Lalu Prasad is that he misused his official position and tampered with the contract process, awarding contract of hotels in lieu of cheap land for his family. The case coming up just ahead of crucial Bihar election could increase trouble for the Lalu family.
A party supporter Kamaldeo Yadav at the RJD office said the development was clearly aimed at tightening the noose around Tejashwi, as he was star campaigner not only for the RJD , but for the opposition in Bihar.
"Many people go to the office and also visit Rabri Devi's residence as routine affair. For the last one week there has been huge rush, but today fewer people have turned up. Congress leader Akhilesh Prasad Singh said, "The BJP targets political rivals... The government in power in this country constantly harasses its political opponents, whether through the ED, CBI, or the courts. But all this will have no impact on the Bihar elections; it will have the opposite effect," he added.

We will fight the case... The people of Bihar are smart, and they know what is happening. All this is political vendetta. The person gave Rs.90,000 crore in profit to railways. He always reduced fares in every budget, and has been known as a historic railway minister. Students from Harvard and IIM came to study from Lalu ji. He has been known as the management guru. The people of Bihar and the country know the truth. I will keep fighting with the BJP as long as I am alive."
