PATNA, Aug. 15 -- Setting aside the conviction passed by the special MLA-MP court of Patna on December 21, 2018, a double bench of the Patna High Court on Thursday acquitted jailed former RJD MLA from Nawada, Raj Ballabh Yadav and two others in a rape case. Raj Ballabh Yadav had surrendered before the special POCSO court in Nalanda on November 9, 2016, a day after Supreme Court cancelled his bail in connection with the rape case of a minor while police had arrested Sulekha Devi, her daughter Chhoti Devi alias Amrita, mother Radha Devi and younger sister Tushi Devi in connection with the case. The women had allegedly lured the girl on the pretext of attending a birthday party and took her to the then MLA's residence instead. The 54-year-old MLA (Raj Ballabh) allegedly raped the minor at his residence-cum-party office located at Pathra English locality under Muffasil police station of Nawada on February 6, 2016. The FIR was registered with Mahila police station in Nalanda on February 9.
