Dehradun, Dec. 22 -- Former chief minister Harish Rawat has threatened to lodge a FIR after an AI-generated video, allegedly accusing him of appeasement of a particular community, was shared by the BJP on social media. The Congress leader claimed that the video was uploaded on the BJP's official social media page and accused the party of repeatedly spreading falsehoods against him. "The BJP has continuously fabricated lies against me. Similar false narratives were created in 2017 and later in 2022 to come to power. The Trivendra Singh Rawat and Pushkar Singh Dhami governments were born out of lies," he said. Rawat made these comments in a video interview he shared on his social media profile on Saturday. Referring to past allegations, Rawat said, "In 2022, the BJP spread the lie of a 'Muslim university', and in 2017, it propagated the 'Friday namaz holiday' claim. I have repeatedly asked them to present evidence; show the gazette notification declaring a holiday. This time, those lies will not work, so they have taken the support of AI to create a new falsehood." He further alleged that while the Prime Minister has warned on global platforms about the dangers of misuse of AI for humanity, the BJP is using the digital tool to target him and the Congress. "If the BJP considers Harish Rawat a threat, it means Harish Rawat is still politically alive," he remarked. Rawat said he would expose the issue before the public and announced plans to protest over the matter. "I had earlier started a Nyay Yatra from Gangotri and I will take it forward. This time, I will also go to the police station, file an FIR, and sit in protest outside the BJP office for seven consecutive days," he said. Accusing the BJP of attempting to disturb communal harmony in Uttarakhand, Rawat challenged the party to prove its allegations of Muslim appeasement against him. "They should present evidence of what I have done in the name of appeasement," he added. BJP state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said Rawat should introspect why he had promised a Muslim university during the 2022 assembly polls. Chauhan alleged that Rawat declaring a holiday for Friday prayers during the 2017 elections wasn't a lie. "These are not false claims. The portrayal is quite accurate and reflects Rawat's character. He has consistently opposed the majority community and has always worked as a self-styled messiah of the minority community," Chauhan said....
