ESI killed as speeding truck hits DTO vehicle
DARBHANGA, July 2 -- A tragic road accident on Tuesday morning claimed the life of Munna Kumar, an Enforcement Sub-Inspector (ESI) posted at the District Transport Office (DTO), Darbhanga. The incident occurred on the Darbhanga-Muzaffarpur stretch of NH-27 near the Reliance petrol pump under Mabbi police station area. Two other staffers, including the driver, sustained injuries, police said.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) of Mabbi police station, Sushil Kumar, the mishap took place while the DTO team was conducting routine vehicle checks along the highway.
Preliminary reports suggest that a speeding Hyva truck rammed into the DTO's Bolero vehicle, causing it to plunge nearly 30 feet into a roadside ditch. The impact was so intense that the vehicle was completely mangled, leading to Munna Kumar's death on the spot.
The injured, identified as driver Ajay Kumar and staff member Ravi Kumar, were rushed to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where their condition is reported to be stable.
Munna Kumar was a resident of Khori village under Hasanpur police station in Samastipur district. His family has been informed of the incident.
Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Satish Kumar confirmed the details and said a team was sent to the spot immediately after receiving the information.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to arrest the persons responsible behind the incident....
