EOU conducts raids against superintendent engineer in Bihar
PATNA, Sept. 25 -- The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) on Wednesday raided multiple locations linked to Vivekanand, a Superintending Engineer (SE) of the Samastipur Electricity Supply Unit, in connection with a corruption case involving assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, officials said.
According to the EOU, preliminary investigation suggested that Vivekanand had amassed assets worth about Rs.4.87 crore against a legal income of Rs.2.74 crore - a difference of 77.84%. An FIR was registered against him under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended 2018), and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following which search warrants were procured from the special vigilance court.
The raids were carried out simultaneously at three locations in Siwan - including his ancestral home at Santhi village under Raghunathpur police station, Kunti Kutir under Town police station, and his residence at Rasidchak village under Hussainganj police station. In addition, searches were conducted at a luxury flat in Kashyap Green City, Kothwan, under Rupaspur police station in Patna....
