PATNA, Sept. 12 -- The Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) on Thursday carried out simultaneous searches at the office and residences of state education department official Virendra Narayan in Patna, Muzaffarpur and Purnia districts in connection with disproportionate assets worth Rs.3.75 crore, officials said. Narayan, considered a close associate of a senior bureaucrat, is currently posted as Regional Deputy Director of Education (RDDE) in Tirhut division, Muzaffarpur. Before his elevation, he served as District Education Officer (DEO) in Vaishali, Katihar and other districts. This is the second raid against Narayan in nine years. Earlier, on July 26, 2015, vigilance sleuths had raided his premises and seized assets worth Rs.4 crore. During Thursday's searches, SVU recovered Rs.14 lakh in cash from his Patna residence....
