PURNIA, June 28 -- Election commission of India (ECI) held a high -level meeting with the top officials of three divisions -- Darbhanga, Kosi and Purnia comprising 12 districts in Bihar's Purnia on Friday.
Deputy election commissioner Sanjay Kumar explained SIR (Special Intensive Revision) to the officers attending the meeting.
The meeting was held on the day when the Opposition parties in Patna raised their voices against SIR alleging it would deprive a large number of poor voters citing they will hardly offer any papers to prove their citizenship.

Pointing out the objections or claims made by any one, he said, "Assistant election registration officer (AERO) will investigate it first and later Election registration officer (ERO) will decide it," adding "One can appeal to district magistrate (DM) and chief electoral officer against the ERO."
Explaining the role of booth level officers (BLOs), he said, "They have been assigned to visit every house and help the voters to fill in the forms provided by them. Pre-filled enumeration forms may be uploaded online."
Besides district magistrates of 12 districts of the three divisions, divisional commissioners of Darbhanga division Kaushal Kishor and Rajesh Kumar divisional commissioner of Purnia and Kosi divisions were also present in the workshop.
