EC shares with parties list of 4.39mn electors not found at addresses
PATNA, July 22 -- The Election Commission of India has shared with political parties lists of 2.96 million electors whose enumeration forms have not been received so far and also of the nearly 4.39 million electors who were not found at their addresses, as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) of voter list, a press release issued by the poll panel on Monday said.
All the 12 major political parties have also been requested to connect with the remaining electors, through their district presidents and nearly 150,000 booth level agents (BLAs).
This is to ensure that the entire election machinery, including the political parties, works together in a mission mode so that no eligible elector is left out from the draft electoral roll to be published on August 1, said the release.
People can file objections for any addition, deletion, rectification in draft electoral rolls from August 1.
Around 90.67% of the 78,969,844 voters in Bihar have so far received the enumeration forms as part of the SIR.
The number of deceased electors reported so far was 2.1% (1,655,407). As many as 1,975,231 voters (2.5%) had been permanently shifted while another 750,742 (0.95%) electors were found to have been enrolled at multiple places. As many as 11,484 voters (0,01%) were not traceable, according to the press release.
Meanwhile, Bihar will become the first state in the country to have all polling stations (PS) with less than 1,200 electors, as against the earlier ceiling of 1,500 electors per polling station.
