PATNA, June 19 -- The State Election Commission (SEC) for the first time is giving voters the option of e-voting in the general election and by-election on June 28 to fill up 121 posts in various municipal bodies spread in 27 districts, as per officials of the state poll panel. The SEC has introduced the e-voting facility as part of the poll panel's initiative to bring in more transparency in the voting system, provide convenience to electors in the senior age group especially those in the 80 plus age bracket, physically disabled voters' and migrants living outside the state. "It is a first of its kind initiative where voters getting registered for e-voting will have the facility to vote from their home by using smart phones. This will be totally transparent and aided by artificial intelligence and blockchain technology for maintaining privacy and transparency," said state election commissioner, Deepak Prasad. The SEC said the e-voting system would also help voters, especially those belonging to vulnerable sections, to cast their votes even if they feel uncomfortable in going to booths for various reasons. The last date of e-registration of voters for the general polls to six nagar panchayats (Khusrupur, Naubatpur, Bikram, Mehsi, Pakdi Dayal and Kochas) is June 23 whereas the e-registration for voters of by-election to six other municipal bodies is June 22....
