PATNA, Aug. 29 -- After a drone fell on the premises of the Mahabodhi Temple and created panic, the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) on Thursday warned all staff and Buddhist monks residing in the campus that the temple is a designated no-fly zone and the use of drones is strictly prohibited. A drone crash inside the Mahabodhi Temple premises in Bodh Gaya on Thursday triggered panic among employees, who initially suspected a security lapse in the prohibited zone. The situation was clarified after a temple priest and a Buddhist monk admitted the drone belonged to them and had fallen due to a technical glitch. "This was a blatant violation of the rules. The temple premises and the area around it are a no-fly zone. Despite this, an attempt was made to fly the drone," said a monk aware of the matter. Temple Committee member Arvind Kumar Singh added, "Flying drones in the premises is strictly prohibited. This is a serious issue and will be investigated." The Mahabodhi Temple and its surrounding area were declared a no-fly zone after the July 7, 2013, bomb blast.
