Haldwani, Aug. 4 -- The Nainital district administration will start a comprehensive survey and anti-encroachment drive on railway land from Monday for facilitating the expansion of Haldwani and Lalkuan railway stations under the Centre's Amrit Bharat project, the district magistrate said. The drive will be jointly executed by two specially formed teams under the supervision of Haldwani sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Rahul Shah, district according to an official. Nainital district magistrate Vandana (who goes by her first name) said: "Proposals have been approved for the expansion of Haldwani and Lalkuan railway stations. However, railway authorities have flagged that a significant portion of the land required is under illegal possession. Hence, they sought assistance from the district administration to remove these encroachments." She further said that the teams, comprising officials from the railway department, local police, revenue, forest, water works, and the power corporation, will begin with the identification and demarcation of encroached railway land from Monday and action will be taken against officials who are responsible in providing access to such facilities to encroachers....
