Dr AP Sinha, ace surgeon of Bihar, dies at 87
PATNA, Nov. 25 -- Dr Akhileshwar Prasad Sinha, one of Bihar's most respected surgeons and a pioneer of urology in the state, passed away in Patna on November 19. He was 87.
He leaves behind his wife Bhawani Sinha, sons Dr Amit Sinha and Asit Sinha, and grandchildren.
Born on June 28, 1938 in Shahdullahpur village near Vaishali, Dr Sinha completed his MBBS from Darbhanga Medical College and MS in surgery from Patna Medical College before pursuing advanced training in the United Kingdom.
After returning to India in 1978, Dr Sinha joined Patna Medical College Hospital and was instrumental in establishing the urology unit there in 1986. He was known for performing complex urological and general surgeries at a time when super-specialty services were scarce in Bihar....
