PATNA, Sept. 7 -- A 25-year-old doctor allegedly shot himself dead at his residence in Muzaffarpur late on Friday evening, police said. The deceased, a junior doctor at a private hospital in Juran Chapra, reportedly used a licensed double-barrel breech-loading (DBBL) gun registered in his father's name. According to police, he returned home around 7 p.m. after duty, had dinner with his mother and grandmother, and later went to his third-floor study room. "Hours later, family members heard a gunshot. When they rushed upstairs, they found him lying in a pool of blood with the licensed gun near his feet," a police officer said. Muzaffarpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sushil Kumar said, "Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. The family claimed he had been mentally disturbed for several days after failing to clear the postgraduate examination, the results of which were declared recently."
