Dhanbad, March 30 -- Police have arrested 18 people in connection with the stone-pelting during a Ram Navami procession in the Baliapur area of Dhanbad and conducted a public parade of the accused, even as opposition parties on Sunday alleged that the action was taken in haste and raised questions over the fairness of the investigation. The incident had triggered tension in parts of Baliapur after miscreants allegedly disrupted the procession by pelting stones. Acting swiftly, police rounded up 18 named accused and carried out a foot march with them through Baliapur market and nearby Bhikhrajpur locality, asserting that the move was aimed at establishing the rule of law and deterring troublemakers.
