Derailment: train movement yet to go on track in Bihar
PATNA, Dec. 30 -- Hundreds of passengers are facing inconvenience following the goods train derailment in Jamui, triggering widespread cancellations, diversions and delays across the Eastern Railway network.
The track, sleepers, overhead power lines, and signal systems were severely damaged. The exact cause of the derailment is yet to be ascertained.
The accident disrupted operations on the Howrah-Patna and Howrah-Muzaffarpur rail lines on the second consecutive days. Those visiting the holy city of Deoghar are the worst hit, as hundreds of people visit their everyday from Patna.
This has caused significant inconvenience to passengers boarding at Chittaranjan, Madhupur, and Jasidih, Jhajha and Jamui railway stations. Passengers waited all night for trains at the stations. Large number of passengers of Jasidih, Jhajha and Jamui has aborted their plans. Many took trains running on diverted routes, some took buses to reach their destinations.
