Declare leopard man-eater, say locals in Pauri
Mussoorie, Nov. 22 -- The local residents on Friday demanded the state forest authorities to eliminate the leopard, that killed a 65-year-old woman in Koti village of Pauri district the previous day, after declaring it man-eater.
The victim, identified as Ginni Devi, a resident of Koti near Khandah in Srinagar (Pauri), was attacked around 3:30 pm while she was collecting grass with her daughter-in-law and other women from the village.
Officials said the leopard, which appeared to have been lying in wait, suddenly pounced on her and dragged her nearly 100 metres into the forest.
Abhimanyu, divisional forest officer (DFO), Pauri, said that forest teams rushed to the site soon after the incident and provided ex-gratia relief to the family. He also urged people not to panic....
