Daughter claims she was accused of donating 'dirty kidney' to Lalu
Patna, Nov. 17 -- Estranged second daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, Rohini Acharya on Sunday made a series of posts on her X handle venting her ire in an oblique way against her younger brother Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and his close aides accusing them of abusing her, calling her "dirty" for donating a "dirty kidney" to her father.
The 46-year-old has also denounced her brother for accusing her of taking crores of money and buying an election ticket, a day after she made an emotive post on X of having "severed ties" with her family.
Acharya's fresh posts pn Sunday afternoon on her X handle intensified the feud in the RJD's first family, prompting opponent BJP and JD(U) to fire salvos at RJD chief for keeping mum over the alleged "humiliation" of his daughter and showing a misogynist mindset by promoting his younger son in his family.
In her posts today, Acharya , who donated one of her kidneys to her ailing father Lalu in December 2022, sounded belligerent by taking oblique swipes at Tejashwi and his closest aide Sanjay Yadav, stating that "I advise all married sisters and daughter not to save their god like beloved father , if there is a brother and son in their maternal home; instead, tell your brother, the son of that house, to get his own kidney or that of one of his Haryanvi friends transplanted...". In the same post, Acharya has said "yesterday, I was cursed at and told that I am dirty, and that I got my father to have my dirty kidney transplanted into him, took crores of rupees, bought a ticket, and then got that dirty kidney put in".
"All sisters and daughters should look after their own homes and families, take care of their children and their in-laws' household without caring for their parents, think only about themselves... For me, it became a huge sin that I didn't look after my family, my three children, didn't take permission from my husband or my in-laws when donating the kidney... I did what I did to save my god, my father, and today it's been called dirty... May none of you ever make a mistake like mine, may no family ever have a daughter like Rohini," the post read.
On Saturday night, the 46-year-old homemaker turned politician before leaving Patna told reporters how she was hurled abuses, thrown slippers at and humiliated by her brother Tejashwi and his closes aides, party MP Sanjay Yadav and Rameez for seeking an answer as who should be held accountable for the RJD's one of the worst electoral defeats in one decade.
"I do not have any family. Tejashwi and his aides Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Nemat have thrown me out of the house. If you ask why the RJD fared so badly, a question every worker is asking, they will tarnish your image, a slipper is raised and abuses are hurled at you. They do not want to take any responsibility," Acharya said.
"Those who became the Chanakya should give a reply on the RJD poll debacle," she said, a barb directed at party MP Sanjay, who is considered the election strategist of the party and handled Tejashwi's poll campaign in the Bihar polls and earlier elections too.
Acharya's face-off with her younger brother-- who was steering the RJD's poll campaign and also was opposition INDIA' bloc's chief ministerial face -- started on Saturday, day after ruling NDA swept the Bihar polls by presenting one of the worst defeats to RJD led coalition, which managed to win only 35 seats with RJD alone getting 25 seats.
The RJD has remained silent on Acharya's onslaught against her brother. " This is an internal matter of the family. The RJD of course would review what factors led to the party getting so less seats," said Mritunjay Tiwary, state RJD spokesperson. There has been no reaction from Tejashwi or his party MP Sanjay Yadav, on the accusations levelled by Acharya.
Meanwhile, reacting on elder sister's emotive posts on X, Tej Partap in a social media post today said that his sister's humiliation is intolerable and once again warned the "Jaichands in the party" -- a reference to close aides of Tejashwi -- that if they attack their family, people of Bihar would not spare them.
"This fight is not of any party but of the dignity of a daughter and of the state," he said.
On their part, the BJP, JD(U) and other partners in the NDA took oblique potshots at RJD chief Lalu Prasad over the growing "sibling rivalry" in his family.
BJP leader Amit Malaviya, in a post on X, said Acharya publicly saying she was "beaten with slippers" in the family though she gave her kidney to her father and Lalu giving preference to his son Tejashwi than to the honour of his daughter, reflects "the real face of the patriarchal, anti-woman, and male-dominated mentality of the Lalu family."...
