Criminals in police uniform flee with goats in Samastipur
SAMASTIPUR, Dec. 12 -- A group of criminals posing as police officers stole goats purchased by local women with government assistance meant for their economic upliftment in Mau Dhaneshwarpur South panchayat under Vidyapati Nagar police station area in Samastipur, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, but no FIR had been registered until Thursday as police were awaiting a formal complaint.
According to residents, the theft took place around 3am when four men arrived in an SUV, dressed in police uniforms, claiming to be conducting a raid to check illegal liquor. Under the guise of the "search operation", the impersonators entered two homes, intimidated the families, and fled with half a dozen goats within minutes.
One of the victims, Champa Devi, said the gang forcibly took away four of her goats in the dead of night. "They said they were police looking for liquor. We were terrified and could not resist," she said....
