Criminals fire indiscriminately at Boring road, panic grips area
PATNA, May 25 -- Unidentified armed criminals in a black SUV opened indiscriminate fire at Boring Road under the jurisdiction of SK Puri police station in broad daylight on Saturday, triggering panic in the busy locality, police said.
The incident occurred as an ADG-rank official was passing through the area and attempted to chase the miscreants. The criminals also fired at the police vehicle.
In retaliation, the ADG's bodyguard fired two rounds at the miscreants, but they managed to flee, taking advantage of the crowd and heavy traffic on the road.
As per reports, the chaos began around 3:30 pm when two vehicles collided near a sweet shop, leading to a scuffle between two groups. When locals intervened, the miscreants fled in their black SUV. However, they returned around 5 pm and fired more than ten rounds into the air, causing panic among bystanders.
Upon receiving information, senior officials, including Patna SSP Awakash Kumar, rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. He confirmed that empty bullet shells were recovered from the scene and that the black SUV bore no registration number.
"The police received information about the firing. Though no injuries were reported, the perpetrators escaped before we could intercept them. We are reviewing CCTV footage from the area, although no formal complaint has been lodged yet," said the SSP.
The daylight firing incident caused chaos along the connecting stretch of Bailey Road, with pedestrians and commuters scrambling for cover. Authorities suspect the shooting was an attempt to assert dominance in an ongoing rivalry....
