PATNA/ARA, Oct. 15 -- The CPI-ML (Liberation) on Tuesday announced a list of 18 candidates for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. However, the party later withdrew the list and said the final list would be announced via a press conference.
The released list, which may well be retained after a final alliance seat formula, included Madan Singh Chandravanshi from Tarari and Shivprakash Ranjan from Agiaon. Other names in the list are Kayamuddin Ansari (Arrah), Ajit Kumar Singh alias Ajit Kushwaha (Dumraon), Arun Singh (Karakat), Mahanand Singh (Arwal), Rambali Singh Yadav (Ghosi), Sandeep Saurabh (Paliganj), Gopal Ravidas (Phulwari), and Divya Gautam (Digha).
According to the list, the party has also fielded Satyadev Ram (Daraundha), Amarjeet Kushwaha (Jiradei), Amarnath Yadav (Darauli), Jitendra Paswan (Bhore), Virendra Prasad Gupta (Sikta), Phoolbabu Singh (Warisanagar), Ranjit Ram (Kalyanpur), and Mehboob Alam (Balrampur).
Party Office Secretary Dilraj Pritam said the CPI-ML has given the symbol to Quyamuddin Ansari from Ara, sitting MLA Shiv Prakash Ranjan from Agiaon (a reserved constituency for SC/ST communities), Madan Singh Chandravanshi - a new face, party activist, and former pramukh of Sahar block - from Tarari, and sitting MLA Ajit Singh Kushwaha from Dumraon in Buxar district.
Pritam informed that Ansari filed his nomination papers from Ara on Tuesday, while the remaining three candidates were scheduled to file their nominations on Wednesday.

In Tarari, CPI-ML's Chandravanshi will take on sitting MLA Vishal Prashant, while Jan Suraaj has yet to declare its candidate for the seat. The picture remains unclear for Agiaon and Dumraon constituencies.
Bhojpur, which forms part of the Shahabad region, has traditionally been considered a CPI-ML stronghold. After receiving the party symbol, Ara candidate Quyamuddin Ansari filed his nomination papers in the presence of Ara MP Sudama Prasad. Ansari said he was hopeful not only of winning the Ara seat but also of the INDIA bloc's success across Bihar. He had contested the 2020 assembly election as well but lost to BJP's Amrendra Pratap Singh by a narrow margin of 3,002 votes. Singh had polled 71,781 votes, while Ansari secured 68,779.
