court refuses to vacate stay on publication of cgl exam result
RANCHI, Sept. 19 -- The stay continues on the publication of the result of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination organised by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) on September 21 and 22 last year as the high court after listening to arguments on the petitions on Tuesday and Wednesday refused to vacate the stay. The court has fixed the next date of hearing for October 15.
The examination was conducted at more than 800 centres across the state for selection of more than 2,000 candidates for graduate-level state government jobs
The HC had imposed stay on December 17 last year after hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by a coaching institute director, Prakash Kumar, who had knocked sought a proper probe into the conduct of the examination, pointing out irregularities in the examination and levelling allegations of paper leak.
A high court advocate close to the matter informed the Hindustan Times that the hearing took place in the division bench headed by Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chouhan.
"The hearing took place on Tuesday and Wednesday before a bench comprising Chief Justice and Justice Rajesh Shankar. During the proceedings, the successful candidates, the state government, and JSSC requested the court to vacate the stay on the publication of results. However, the court did not agree," the advocate said.
"Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan and Advocate Piyush Chitresh represented the state government. Senior Advocate Gopal Shankar argued on behalf of the successful candidates, and senior advocate Ajit Kumar represented the petitioners.
