Court cancels bail of ex-MLA, three others, sends them to prison
BHABUA, June 8 -- The court of first additional chief judicial magistrate of Bhabua, Hema Kumari, on Friday sent an ex-MLA and a former woman ward councillor to jail in a bail violation case.
Ex-MLA of Bhabua Ram Chandra Singh Yadav, former ward councillor Ilambasi Devi, along with Pramod Yadav and Vickey Yadav - all residents of Bhabua - were accused in a 2018 case.
They, along with hundreds of supporters, had allegedly incited a mob and blocked the main road in front of the sadar hospital after the murder of a youth on December 30, 2018, as per a case registered by Bhabua police station assistant sub-inspector Manu Prasad, district advocates association general secretary Mantu Pandey said.
The ex-MLA and the other accused were facing trial in the case but had failed to appear in court on the date fixed for evidence on May 21.
The court then cancelled their bail and issued non-bailable arrest warrants against them.
Earlier too, their bail had been cancelled for failing to appear on scheduled dates, but the court had subsequently granted them bail on the condition that they would appear in court on every hearing date, Pandey said.
They surrendered in court on Friday and prayed for bail, but the court rejected their plea and sent them to jail....
