MADHEPURA, July 5 -- A couple who used to sell vegetables was allegedly beaten to death on Thursday evening at their home in Rajni, located in Bihar's Madhepura district, police said. The deceased were identified as 50-year-old Dinesh Das and his 45-year-old wife Bhulia Devi, residents of Ward No. 14 under the jurisdiction of Murliganj police station. Station House Officer (SHO) Ajeet Kumar confirmed the incident and said that police are investigating the case from all possible angles to identify and arrest those involved in the crime. The couple is survived by a daughter, who lives separately. According to police, the daughter had asked the couple's neighbours to check on them after her repeated calls went unanswered on Thursday. The neighbours then discovered the bodies and informed both the daughter and the police. A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that a land dispute might be the possible motive behind the murders. "The postmortem has been conducted and the bodies have been handed over to their daughter. No formal FIR has been lodged so far. We have questioned several people living near the victims' house," the SHO added....
