Constitution continuously matured Indian democracy: Ravi Shankar Prasad
PATNA, Sept. 14 -- Former Union minister and Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Saturday that India's Constitution has continuously matured the democracy of the country.
He was addressing the first Bhuvaneshwari Dayal lecture organised on the topic "India's constitutional journey in the last 75 years" in Patna organised by BD College.
"In the last 75 years, our Constitution has continuously matured the democracy of India. Our Constitution has the power to deal with all the challenges that the country faces. Our Constitution has the capability to deal with all those challenges," said Prasad.
Prasad said that the biggest strength of our Constitution is that in its 75 years of journey, it has kept the right to rule the country vested in the vote of the people.
"The people of the country will vote for whomever they want and the one they elect will take over the reins of government in the country. He said that our Constitution empowers every Indian, irrespective of his religion, caste, language, attire and province. It is the strength of our Constitution that not only the governments but also all the constitutional institutions have been made accountable to the Constitution," he said.
