Dehradun, July 22 -- The Uttarakhand Congress Mahila Morcha workers on Monday took out a march towards the Raj Bhawan to protest against alleged rising crimes against women in the state. The protesters, led by state Congress women wing president Jyoti Rautela, were stopped by police at Hathibarkala. The protesters then staged a sit-in at the site, following which they were detained and taken to the police lines. They were released later in the day. Rautela said, "There has been a surge in incidents of murder, rape of minors, and other heinous crimes. These incidents have not only violated dignity of women but have also tarnished image of Uttarakhand." htc...
