Cong leaders accuse NDA of lowering poll discourse
PATNA, Nov. 11 -- Senior Congress leader from Karnataka and All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Syed Naseer Hussain on Monday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah of stooping to new lows in election discourse to evade pressing issues plaguing Bihar's populace.
Talking to media persons, a day after campaigning for the second phase of the Bihar polls concluded, Hussain highlighted videos of BJP leaders employing hateful language to polarize votes along religious lines.
"The election campaign this time was different, where the alliance ruling for 20 years continuously resorted to negative tactics in their propaganda, while our INDIA Mahagathbandhan remained steadfast on positive issues," Hussain stated.
He emphasised that MGB leaders focused on education, health, employment, halting migration, women's welfare and combating crime, corruption and commissions.
"The Nitish-BJP government for nearly 20 years avoided presenting its report card to the public throughout the election and repeatedly targetted the opposition, shredding linguistic decorum to pieces," he added, likening the NDA to a failing student who hides their report card and blames the school, teachers, and circumstances.
Hussain alleged that from the PM to ministers and local leaders, terms like "katta" (pistol), "ghuspaithiya" (infiltrator), "haramkhor" (freeloader) and "gunda" (goon) were used in public discourse. "Bihar needs development-industrial, social and economic-along with jobs for the youth," he added....
