PATNA, July 26 -- Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) president Rajesh Ram on Friday launched a video campaign to expose alleged flaws in the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive and claimed that the poll body has been acting as a 'puppet' of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to manipulate electoral processes in Bihar for the ruling party's benefit. While unveiling the campaign video at Sadaqat Ashram, the BPCC headquarter, Ram minced no words, declaring the SIR drive a 'deceptive farce' at a time when half of Bihar is grappling with floods and the other half is forced into migration due to government failures. He accused the ECI of working at the behest of the BJP to secure electoral advantages. "Despite consistent protests from the Congress and INDIA bloc partners, both in the legislature and on the streets, the ECI has continued this process to favour the BJP," Ram alleged. He highlighted the exclusion of critical documents like Aadhaar and voter ID from the list of 11 required documents under the SIR, calling it a clear indication of the commission's dubious intentions. Ram pointed out that Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had raised democratic protests against the SIR outside Parliament, yet the government stifled any discussion on the issue in the House, terming it "condemnable." Through the video campaign, the Bihar Congress aims to reach 10 to 15 crore people, exposing what they call the government's attempt to 'steal votes'. Drawing parallels with demonetization and 'nation lockdown', Ram termed the SIR drive as 'votebandi' (vote suppression), a result of the government's flawed policies. "Bihar's people are politically aware from birth, something the BJP fails to comprehend," he added. Congress legislative party leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan, addressing the press conference, accused the BJP of running a government built on 'lies and propaganda'" He asserted, "The BJP's tactics, character, and face stand exposed. They will not succeed in stealing votes in Bihar, and the Congress party assures the people of the state of this, " Khan said....
