Dehradun, July 5 -- The Congress on Friday announced its list of supported candidates for the district panchayat members for Chamoli, Tehri Garhwal, and Pauri Garhwal districts for the upcoming panchayat elections. The Congress on Thursday announced its list of supported candidates for district panchayat members in Almora district. The BJP on Wednesday declared its supported candidates for the posts of district panchayat members for all 13 districts. Suryakant Dhasmana, state Congress vice president, said, "People are fed up with the BJP and will vote for the Congress in the panchayat elections." BJP state media in charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that his party will seek votes from people in the name of development, and just like the municipal polls, the BJP is poised for a one-sided victory in these panchayat elections. The voting for the first phase of the panchayat elections in 12 districts (excluding Haridwar) will be held on July 24, followed by the second phase on July 28. The counting of votes will take place on July 31. Dates for Haridwar are yet to be announced....
