SAMASTIPUR, Jan. 20 -- A consultant, appointed on outsourcing basis at the Government College of Teacher Education (CTE) in Samastipur was allegedly injured during an altercation with the college principal on the campus on Sunday evening, prompting a police investigation amid counter-allegations from both sides. The injured staffer, Alok Kumar (35), a resident of Mansi in Khagaria district, sustained head injury and was admitted to Sadar Hospital. Police said the incident occurred within the Mufassil police station limits. According to Kumar's complaint, a verbal dispute escalated, during which the principal, Dr Pawan Kumar Singh, allegedly hurled a paperweight at him, causing the head injury. Colleagues alerted Dial-112 after noticing Kumar bleeding, following which a police team reached the spot and shifted him to the hospital. Denying the allegation, Dr Singh claimed Kumar injured himself and was falsely implicating him. "He picked up a paperweight and struck himself on the head, and then threatened to frame me in a case under Section 307," the principal told the media. He further alleged that Kumar had been allotted Room No. 47 in the girls' hostel on the instructions of the SCERT and that, during a recent inquiry into an alleged liquor-related incident involving another teacher, Kumar had absconded and later issued threats when counselled. Kumar, however, alleged sustained harassment over the past two months and accused the principal of erratic behaviour, claiming he was often under the influence of alcohol. Kumar also claimed he was appointed in August 2024. Meanwhile, a purported video showing liquor bottles inside the principal's chamber has gone viral on social media. Dr Singh said the clip was not recent and added, "I do not know whether the video is genuine or AI-generated." Police said the video has been taken on record and will be examined as part of the probe. Mufassil SHO Ajit Prasad Singh said on Monday an application has been received on behalf of the injured staffer and that his statement will be recorded on the basis of which an FIR would be lodged. "The matter is under investigation, and all claims will be verified," he said....
