Coaching owner arrested for Rs.2.4-crore cyber fraud
PATNA, Sept. 14 -- Haryana police on Saturday arrested a coaching owner in connection with a cyber fraud of Rs.2.4 crore from Pirbahore area under the same police station, officials said.
The arrested coaching owner was identified as Sanjay Singh.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Pirbahore police station, Mohammad Sajjad, said that a police team from Rohtak police station, Haryana, came to Patna to arrest Sanjay Singh, a coaching owner, for cheating worth Rs.2.4 crore after a digital arrest of a man in Haryana. The police left Haryana on transit remand. An FIR was lodged with Rohtak police station in Haryana against him, he added.
Police said that Singh was a member of a gang that cheated people by threatening them with 'digital arrest' and then extorting money from them. "During interrogation, Singh denied his involvement.
However, when the police showed the evidence, such as bank details, he admitted his involvement in the incident and told the police that he joined the gang due to financial problems. Singh's role was to contact people and demand money as part of the scam," the police added.
Police also said that one youth was detained for interrogation but was released as there was no evidence found against him.
In another incident, Jeet Lal Rai (40), a disabled man, was stabbed to death by an unidentified assailant at Tata Colony area under Maner police station late on Friday night.
The police sent the body to the hospital for autopsy.
An eyewitness said that the incident took place around 11 pm on Friday night when an unidentified man stabbed Jeet and beat him with stones while he was sleeping. "Jeet suddenly woke up and tried to escape, but the criminal chased him, beat him with stones, and stabbed him, in which he died on the spot," the eyewitness added.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Maner police station, Pradeep Kumar, said that the police detained a man for interrogation in connection with the incident. A probe has begun into it....
