KISHANGANJ, June 21 -- The Circle Officer (CO) of Thakurganj in Kishanganj district, Suchita Kumari, has been suspended for alleged negligence in revenue-related matters. The suspension was ordered by the Department of Revenue and Land Reforms with the approval of the Governor of Bihar. A notification to this effect was issued on Thursday. According to the complaint, Suchita Kumari allegedly approved the mutation of land based on forged sale deeds (Kewala). Complainant Mohammad Kasimuddin claimed that his objection to the validity of the sale deed was outright rejected, and the land mutation was carried out illegally. He further alleged that not only was his plea ignored, but he was also publicly humiliated, leaving him with no option but to lodge a formal complaint. During the suspension period, Suchita Kumari has been directed to report to the office of the divisional commissioner in Purnia. She will be entitled to a subsistence allowance as per established norms and rules and has been instructed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission. A departmental inquiry will also be initiated against her. Earlier in March this year, Priyebrat Kumar, the CO of Raniganj in Araria district, was also suspended over serious allegations of accepting bribes for issuing mutations and settling government land matters.
