CM reaches out to teachers amid row over transfers
PATNA, Aug. 8 -- Coming to the rescue of dissident teachers miffed at the government's transfer and posting policy, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday directed the education department to seek three choices from teachers having issues with inter-district transfer.
"I have been getting suggestions from various sources on the recent transfer of teachers and I have done detailed review. The posting will be done after seeking three choices from the teachers having problems with inter-district transfer. I have directed the department in this regard," he wrote on X.
The CM said for transfer within district, the committee under the district magistrate concerned would take a call so that the teachers could get posting in choice blocks or nearest places as far as possible," he added.
Kumar said teachers were important for the future of children. "It is my request to them all not to worry about these things and focus wholeheartedly on education," he added.
Earlier, additional chief secretary (education) S Siddharth had written to all the district magistrates and district education officers that the district establishment committee headed by the respective DM would review all the complaints related to transfers within district and issue fresh transfer order.
"Regarding inter-district cases, the committee headed by the DM would carry out review and send a comprehensive list with clear recommendations to director, primary education, who would issue the final order," Siddharth wrote.
The ACS also wrote that while doing transfer and posting of teachers, the election requirements and the Election Commission letters issued in recent months be kept in mind. He also set a deadline of August 31 to review the complaints and complete the transfer exercise from September 1-10....
