CM pick lacks credibility: NDA
PATNA, Oct. 24 -- Bihar's National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders on Thursday took a dig at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav after the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) declared him as its chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The NDA leaders recalled Tejashwi's chequered political career and alleged involvement in corruption cases.
Addressing mediapersons, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Two orders have been issued by the Delhi High Court. The court examined all the matters and declared that the IRCTC hotels case is a serious case of corruption and cheating under Section 420 of the IPC. Tejashwi Yadav, you are an accused under Section 420, which carries a sentence of seven years. Your claim that you won't tolerate corruption needs to be questioned. The people of Bihar must remain alert. These 2.60 crore households of Bihar, to whom they are promising permanent jobs, should remember that their (RJD's) background is such that it can make their lives miserable. None of their work happens without corruption - and I am giving proof of that."
JD(U) also dismissed the announcement, saying it would not strengthen the Opposition's position. "No matter how hard they try, the situation of the Grand Alliance will not improve. The NDA's victory chariot has already moved far ahead, and the Opposition is nowhere in the race. Whether Tejashwi Yadav becomes the CM face or not, the Mahagathbandhan will lose the elections," said JD(U) spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad.
Jan Suraaj leader Prashant Kishor said, "When power begins to slip away, a person is ready to say anything. Appoint not one but five Dy CMs - how will that help?"...
