Dehradun, May 30 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday flagged off the nation-wide campaign, "Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan", in Guniyal village of Uttarakhand with an aim to modernise the state's agricultural sector and empower farmers with scientific knowledge and government support. The campaign, scheduled to continue till June 12, will see agricultural scientists and officials engaging with farmers across 95 development blocks, 670 Nyaya Panchayats, and 11,440 villages in the state. "Under this national-level drive, over 2,000 scientific teams will reach out to 1.5 crore farmers across more than 700 districts of India. In Uttarakhand, three teams have been formed in each district to hold awareness programmes daily, with over 600 farmers expected to participate in each session," the CM said. Dhami added that through the "Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan", farmers will be given information about advanced agricultural techniques according to their land, climate and need, as well as trained for the selection of profitable crops on the basis of soil testing. "Along with this, information about schemes such as agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture will also be provided.
