GAYA JI, June 3 -- Alert rail staff averted a major accident after fire broke out under a coach of 13151 Kolkata-Jammu Tawi Express due to break-binding at Tankuppa railway stations under Gaya-Koderma rail division of East central Railway on Sunday night. The train was halted on the up loop line of Tankuppa station to allow Vande Bharat Express to pass at 8.09pm when station manager, Tankuppa Lal Bahadur Paswan noticed the flames rising from the wheels of S-1 coach. Railway staff rushed to the point with fire extinguishers and checked the spread of the flames and doused the fire in time to save the train from a major accident. Panicked passengers came down from the coaches in a hurry. Railway Protection Force and railway staff helped the passengers and appealed to them to remain calm and cooperative as the fire was under control and had caused no harm to the train, Paswan said. After extinguishing the fire, officials conducted a technical examination of the train and ensured that it was completely safe for journey.
