GAYA JI, Sept. 14 -- A 17-year-old Class 11 student was shot dead in Gaya Ji district late Friday night, police said. The incident occurred at Raghopur village under the jurisdiction of Fatehpur police station. The deceased was identified as Shivam Kumar, son of a government teacher. Police said Shivam received a call on his mobile phone around 10.30 pm and went towards the village school. When he did not return for a long time, his family began searching for him. He was later found lying dead near the school, about 500 metres from his house, with two bullet wounds on his head. Preliminary investigation suggested that assailants, who were waiting at the spot, caught him, shot him dead, and fled. The killers had even called his cousin from his phone after the murder, but the call went unanswered as the cousin's phone was on silent mode, the victim's father said. Police were informed immediately but allegedly reached the spot late. Angered by the delay, family members and locals blocked the road with the body until police arrived with the dog squad in the morning. Shivam's mobile phone was recovered from the crime scene, but all contact numbers and call data had been deleted. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, officials said. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramanand Kumar Kaushal said a murder case had been registered and Additional SP Manoj Kumar was camping at the site along with forensic experts....
